Drivers have cut their petrol consumption by more than 15% since the credit crunch and the recession.

But the fact remains that most of us need the car to take us to work or for many other important things like visiting family in hospital so cuts in petrol usage are low down on our scheme of things but for others it might be very different.

Fuel in all likelihood will simply continue to trend upwards and upwards. We need to explore alternatives, especially nuclear, more seriously and more urgently. Surely it's becoming a national security issue...

l agree but the trouble is governments seem quite slow in exploring the possible viable alternatives.

If our petrol use is cut by anything then....job done?
Don't get me wrong, I can't stand how tree-huggers have made our roads and town/city centres so anti-car but I'm pretty sure it's the sort of result they were after.
