tivo without virgin phone

Sorry if this as been mentioned elsewhere but I`m wondering if anyone can tell me if you have to have a virgin phone to get tivo? I`ve just got sky tv,phone and broadband in and plan to ring virgin next week to cancell my broadband and phone but keep the tv service if the price is right. I was wondering if it was worth asking them about tivo or as I say will I need to keep my virgin phone? Would be great if I could get tivo but only if the price is right.

Your`e probably right there about the price hike. I will find out tomorrow when I phone. Will post what they have to say. If it`s costly then I wont bother because for me what you`ve never had you don`t miss.

Re: tivo without virgin phone

In that case I would suspect TiVo would be £33.50 a month.

Re: tivo without virgin phone

Where does all this mis-information come from?

You do not need a landline from Virgin Media (or anyone else) for TiVo.

You can have TV M+ standalone with TiVo for the princely sum of £15.50 per month with a one-off cost for TiVo 500Gb of £49.95 (currently no install charge).

Try the bundle builder - it is your friend.

Thanks for info, all I know was when I signed up the only package available without a virgin phone line was XL, that may well have changed now. But I have never heard any thing from virgin to that fact.

Re: tivo without virgin phone

TV XL did used to be the only one available by itself. That is now not the case.

Not sure what you mean by 'heard any thing from virgin to that fact.'

I am always getting letters from virgin trying to sale be broadband, phone and mobile bundles, it would have been nice to have got a letter telling me that I could now downgrade my tv package if I wished, but they would not do that because that would lose them money.

On the other hand, you were happy to contract with Virgin Media for their TV XL service. Had you not been happy, you would have contracted with someone else for a lesser TV package, such as Freeview or Freesat or .......

At the time Virgin XL tv service was only option besides analogue tv, first choice would have been sky digital but due to the trees at the back was told that was not a option. I have no complaints about the xl tv package, except the cost, would have been nice to be told other options are now available. If freeview had been available at the time I might not have subscribed to the xl package.

Re: tivo without virgin phone

Well phoned virgin this morning and was told the tv without a phone would be £24.50 a month on the L package. Tivo would be £27.50 a month with a one off charge of £49.99 I guess. Sorry I forgot to ask. Anyway I said it was too much just for a second box (I already have Sky+ HD ). The guy on the phone said I would be better off phoning Sky and getting multi room as it would only be an extra £10.25 a month, which I think was very honest of him.

...then you too have been given incorrect information.

Standalone TV L is £18.50 per month:

That could be new customers only?
