Can anyone please advise please?
Is it possible to play games on X Box via the ethernet connection to play live games?

I do not believe so, as that ethernet connection is specifically for the TiVo box, not general internet connectivity.

(but I am sure someone more informed will be along in a moment).

No it's not possible. You need a broadband connection to play xbox online. The TiVo Ethernet is just to connector your home network.
