Re: second tivo

At the moment it sets the recording on both. Hopefully in future you'll be able to choose.

When I did a test recording, it only did it on one box and I was told I wasn't able to choose which one.

That's how it used to work. It's been changed recently.

Re: second tivo

If I decided to get TiVo, can I get 2 500Gb boxes installed on the same day and have my V+HD and V HD boxes taken away completely? What would the instal charge be for getting 2 TiVo's at the same time.

Sorry if this is off topic

That's the activation fee. This month is free installation which is usually £40 per box (or so I am let to believe).

gotchya loud and clear. Still think it could be an simpler pricing structure though, install and activation fees. Especially when all the activation is, is an engineer phoning a call center staff with a few digits lol

In 8 years of being a Sky customer I never came across an "activation" fee. In the 3 months I was a VM tv customer I had 2 installation fees and 3 activations fees.

Thats £250 lol, NOTE TOO SELF..........NEVER LEAVE SKY AGAIN .

Could anyone explain an activation fee? eg- My box has been installed, connected to my TV and ready to go........Now Virignmedia want £49 to activate it, So a half decent I.T tech would get £50 an hour for a very basic job outside London. So what do I get for my £49 activation fee?

I know the call center staff earn less then £7 an hour so if it took an hour to activate my box then the call center peeps get £7 an hour. Where does the other £42 go?

Perhaps it's for the cost of the box....just a guess!

Oh so that explains why its called an ACTIVATION fee, if it was the box cost I know VM would state it as a box cost. They would not want to mislead customers no matter what you want people to think.

It's just one of these things I suppose. Virgin charge £49.00 to activate the box. It's all made clear to you up front that this is a required fee. It's really up to the customer whether they are prepared to pay this or not. Where did the £49.00 fee come from.... who knows. What does it really cover..... who knows. Does it really matter.... not to me. Still it's a lot clearly than some of the fees and charges you have to pay when booking a holiday. I was just looking at a holiday to Turkey for £599.00 for 14 nights. By the time I'd seleted all my flight options, baggage preference etc... I was at almost £750.00!
