Tivo question(s)

Hi all, i currently have a V hd box and have been looking at the Tivo 500gb box, but i cannot find any real info on what actual advantages this has over my current box.

ok, i can record stuff, but if im honest its not something i would seem my self using a lot, i understand it has a better menu system and can recommend things to you as it "learns" your viewing habits etc, but im not sure this is worth paying any extra for.

so can anyone tell me what i am missing by not upgrading, does the Tivo box upscale SD picture quality any better, or HD picture quality, does it offer better sound if you have some sort of home cinema setup?

can anyone help me!?

You have answered your own question there apart from the up-scaling which is due to come in a future update.

The box is brilliant and will change the way you view TV.

This is just my opinion, Other's welcome

Re: Tivo question(s)

With the suggestions you will get when you give show's thumbs up / down it will give you the suggestions that will suit the things that you watch?

The menu's are a lot better as I have had a V-HD, SA V+ and also a Samsung box as well and I will never go back to them after using the TIVO box?

Re: Tivo question(s)

Does it crash and go slow like the V+ box does? I have lost count of the number of times I have been fast forwarding through adverts at x32 only for it to stick in that mode and run to the end of the program before it give me control back. The it will overshoot the other way.

My V+ often reboots itself and tries to record the same program twice leaving it in the recorded programs list as still recording days after the event and once I delete it, it comes back.

Does Tivo do this or is it better behaved?

That's something

Seeing as your avatar is Zippy, did you know Roy Skelton (Zippy's voice) died this week?

Totally off topic however I won a competition on Radio about 8 years ago doing an impression of Zippy. I never actually received my prize as I was a bit drunk at the time and made a lewd accusation on air about the guy who played Bungle. Genuinely a true story.

My TiVo box has not crashed once and it has not been slow either. When FF and you stop it it jumps back about 30 secs so you will not miss anything ( the same as RW ).

I have not had a re-boot of the TiVo box yet and also when I have deleted something it has not come back on the TiVo?

Hope this helps you?

As Geoffrey said you were very naughty that night and must behave better in future events.

I cant see how people get to 2011 without recording TV, but since you have managed, Tivo (any PVR) would be wasted, since recording is it's primary feature. Most other features/benefits are recording related

What you never had you never miss, so you wont get it

I actually find it quite humbling and I think you should stick to your principles and just watch TV live, whats on and when it's on - in fact you might even start a trend/movement :o)

Best thing to do is read the forum below , it will give you an idea of any issues you may have with TIVO
