Series link route is too lengthy!
The route for setting series link should be the simplest of all
EPG > OK ("series link" should be default value)>OK (series link settings menu already populated with last used settings and default item set to "Use these settings" >OK
So unless you need to change series link settings the route should be
EPG>OK>OK>OK or
EPG>Record>OK>OK
Had I written it, that would be the route

Re: Series link route is too lengthy!
Eh?
I don't think its too lengthy at all. takes mere seconds to set a link using standard settings.

Yes in a similar way to many freeview boxes and Sky+ . With Sky its EPG > Record > Record Series and done.

Which would be pointless for Films and other one-off programmes, of course.

Which is exactly how it is on Tivo. Okay. Perhaps there's an extra "down arrow" to press, but so what? An extra .5 seconds, if that? It's certainly no longer than the V+.
There is such a thing as being overly pedantic about things

Ahh yes. This from the man who seems to think any major coding re-write can be done in an hour.

So, it's a few seconds longer than V+ or Sky+... how will we get those seconds back in our lives?!
Plus once a Series Link is set up, then that's it... if the show finishes and months later it returns, then TiVo will record the new series without you worrying about setting up a new SL, unlike V+.

I agree with the OP, Series Link is too long winded at the moment

Re: Series link route is too lengthy!
Huh? It's currently only three button pushes.
Even the OP thinks it should be three or four!

So it's currently quicker than the OP would have it.

Plus you have to manually add the start and end padding, even more clicks

Only if you choose to change it. Using the defaults it is really quick to set up.

Re: Series link route is too lengthy!
And that's all we're on about here; the default settings. The OP never mentioned anything else.

Blimey we agree I'm not sure it's at all lengthy. I'm also not sure how on earth you could make it any quicker!!!

When you have slow menus (which some do and some don't) then it is a lengthy process. For me, it is slow as you get long pauses between some of the actions.

That's a good point. The defaults need to be modifiable, so I could choose the padding, keep options and number of episodes to keep for all my recordings (as currently I always set them to the same).

Not the worst idea ever Default padding is on the way, I believe.
