Re-booting
3 days in a row now my v+ box has re-booted itself for no apparent reason. Does anyone know why this is happening as it`s very anoying! When it happened on Thursday it caused one of my recordings to fail (Chuck). Incidently does anyone know when or if that episode is repeated before the next new one is shown?

Re: Re-booting
What V+ model is it? Samsung or SA? Also how long have you had it?

Re: Re-booting
Does it matter how long he has had it? I hate when call center say "oh its 4 years old you must need a new one", then I find the reason why its rebooting fix it and the customer insists that the call center said they would get a new box.

Re: Re-booting
If it's an old SA it could just be knackered.
When my SA starting failing, the tech took one look and just replaced the silver SA with a newer black SA.
Also it's handy together as many details about the box so I can try and help.

Re: Re-booting
Even if its a "new" SA it'll still be refurbished, so in theory all SA v+ boxes are "old"

Re: Re-booting
ok...
scenario 1
how old is the box... 4 years... its old its probably duff you need an engineer
scenario 2
how old is the box.. 3 months old... its probably a duff box you need an engineer
The things that can fix a SA box rebooting is check the upstream is below 55db, check SNR is good and do a drive format, most technicians just swap the box anyway as once the SA starts misbehaving and you dont swap it out you usually visit the same customer later that week and have a repeat fault against your name.

Actually no agent says that because they follow a diagnostics flow which may require them to send out an enginee,r but before hand the customer may be asked to monitor the issue and on the 3rd call an engineer is sent out who will at that point swap the box.

They should follow the flow and if it says replace then that would be in the notes or if old enough you work order would say replace especially certain models.

Has it happened again? Do you have a lot of content on the hard drive?
