Strange fault.
My V+ box wouldn't turn on to stand-by last night and i also noticed that it wouldn't record or give any interactive services. My wife phoned up Virgin today and went through all the motions (pulling the card out and testing) only to be told that it's an area fault. The thing is though that my next door neighbour is also on Virgin and also has V+ but her box is fine and everything works great.
I wanted to watch the Dr Who that i'd recorded, but can't. Doh!

It's strange that :-
It won't go into stand-by
It won't go into the recoded programs part.
It won't record.
It won't access any interactive.
It will go onto BBC iplayer on BBC1.
It will show mini tv guide.
It will give program info via mini guide.
It will let me watch all the channels.

Re: Strange fault.
Must be a very localised area fault!

Re: Strange fault.
Same here since last Wednesday 12noon. Many people have the same problem and Virgin are trying to fix the problem. It can be fixed by re-formatting the disk I gather, but all recordings will be lost.
Latest update is a fix by Wednesday 17.00 here.

Re: Strange fault.
If you do not stay on the line then it may not get fixed so do not hang up even if it says the isan area fault as it may not relate to your fault.

Re: Strange fault.
I reported a fault last Thursday as I was unable to get any "catch up services" (which is one of the reasons I stay with VM).
So I rang India, was given a date of this Wednesday 4-7pm for them to come and fix it.
I received a call on Tuesday at 2.00pm asking if I wanted them to still come out otherwise I would be charged £10 for "their" inconvience.
Guess what. Problem fixed without explanation about an hour later. Had I not chosen to take the afternoon off I would have not got the message on time and been stung for £10.

I don't know what they did to be honest, I checked on Virgin Media Service Status page which stated all problems had been fixed....my V+ box was still not working so I turned it off at the mains, re-booted and it worked fine.
( whilst the box has been broken for the past week, on checking the recorded programmes it had continued to record series linked programmes during this time )

Re: Strange fault.
I've been checking the virginmedia website service update part day by day hoping that i would soon be able to use all the functions on my V+ box and day by day the estimated fix time keeps moving.
I've still got the same problems of not being able to access interactive, not being able to record or watch anything that's recorded and can't turn the V+ box onto stand-by. I hope it get's fixed soon.
