VBOX, is it HD Ready? - SAMSUNG STB-2110C
Under your package it says TV extras V HD Box - HD ready
Can someone confirm if my STB is HD ready and relates to the above?
I am aware that there is a cost to enable the function if the customer requires it.

No only the Cisco Vbox and both V+ boxes are HD ready, you can get an HD box if you want though by calling Customer Services tomorrow.

No, that model isn't a V HD box. It's merely a V Box, SD only.

Oh right, I just wondered why it showed under my package when I check under my virgin media.
Why does it say HD ready when it isn't?

I think that it is due to the V-HD box is now the standard box and that is why it is saying it.

It might be because the V HD box is now marketed as the standard box.

Everything else that it states for me in that section is correct except the HD info.

You think if I asked VM about it they would replace mine for the HD model without a charge, or is a charge inevitable.

They will certainly replace it but sadly I suspect a charge is inevitable, certainly to have HD activated anyway.
If you are out of contract you could always call retentions and see what options are available to you.

As far as I am aware there is a pool of SD replacement Samsung boxes, so until these boxes are finally decommissioned or you are willing to pay the HD activation fee nothing will change, sorry

No need as all he needs to do is call Customer Services and say I want a HD box, they will ask which type and then they will send one out and bill him accordingly.

There are loads, i make sure i have plenty as they are so quick to install, have 2 scarts and never go wrong.
I put them in to replace old pace, SA boxes or 2110s. I only put a cisco in for new customers or customers who have one

A call to retentions could be better.
My uncle got his SD box replaced with an activated V HD all for the cost of self install, I think he said it cost £20.
He had to sign a new contract though, I think he is on XL if that matters.

People on XL package get excused the monthly HD charge.Other TV tiers have to pay a monthly charge.

Not true for the V HD (non-PVR box) as there is no monthly charge after the activation fee is paid.

The thing that interests me last year I upgraded to a V+, we asked the installer what would happen to my old Pace STB (7 years old) where they decommissioned, he said no they were reconditioned for council tenant customers. Question how many different kinds of STB do VM actively support/replace?
V+ SA and Samsung
V Samsung only(standard SD box)?
VHD Cisco
Tivo Cisco
