Help needed with my new Samsung V+ box

I had my old V+ box, the big one that looked like a slab, replaced with a slick looking Samsung V+ earlier today.

The new box is driving me mad. With the old box I could watch a HD channel via my HDMI but could also record what I was watching at the same time via my DVD recorder using the scart outlet. I've tried to do the same thing with the new box however the picture I'm getting via the scart seems to be continually stuck on 4:3. I tried everything but the picture won't budge. The only way I can record from the new box in 16:9 is to set the output to Widescreen Composite which means I can't watch in HD at the same time.

Does anyone know how to fix this as this is a major problem for me. I record a lot of TV but don't feel I should have to mess about like this each time I want to make a recording, live when the programme is being broadcast.

Re: Help needed with my new Samsung V+ box

I think what I've done with mine is similar enough to be helpful

I send the composite video signal from the recorder output SCART via a balun to another screen upstairs and at the same time watch HDMI on my main screen.

What I found was by set up the composite output exactly as you want, eg wide-screen, letter-box etc., and then switch back to the HDMI settings, the composite setup is not altered, so both settings 'stick'.
