What exactly can I do with VOD

With my new Virgin package being cheaper than Sky I've opted to make the switch

Keeping my 50mb BB but taking up XL TV + XL phone with sky being dropped next month

They have given me 80 hours of VOD a month.

Got general questions as you can expect being new to Virgin TV after using Sky's TV services.

1) Is Virgin VOD similar to Sky anytime? If so why only 80 hours if Sky offer Unlimited

2) Is the service similar to Sky player's On demand service and can I use it online?

3) What kind of content should I expect if both of the above are false?

Thanks in advance

I can not understand why they have said 80 hours? As with TV XL you get a whole lot more, Catch up from the BBC, ITV E.T.C, TV CHOICE and also MUSIC ON DEMAND.

1- Not sure of this?

2- Yes VM have the player for online which you get as been a TV XL customer.

3- You get a whole lot of content.

Re: What exactly can I do with VOD

80 hours may be related to V+ recording space for SD?

VM Player is not a comparable service to Sky Player, you cannot watch any linear channels, it is a relatively new service so hopefully it will improve but it will not allow you to watch channels when you are away from home.

Re: What exactly can I do with VOD

Cant find it anywhere on the details so I'd assume I have misheard the sales guy on the phone and the SD would be correct

But still great knowing I do have access to a player similar to the one of Sky.

Edit: I've never used sky player outside of my home anyway so that matter is not a problem.

Cool, just be clear there is no linear content at all on it and (I think) everything on it is available through your TV OD service anyway but it is handy to use in another room on a PC. No premium Sky content is available on it though but some Sky content is joining OD soon but it isn't clear what that will consist of.

VM's TV service is very good and catch up is excellent in my opinion, it might be an idea just to double check that you will receive all the pay channels you want though but most pay channels are covered, at least in SD.

Catch up , Broadband speeds and ESPN free on XL are the major plus points you will find.
