Royal Navy Rescues Hostages From Pirates
Quote:
British sailors have freed five hostages who were held captive by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean for three months.
The Royal Navy's HMS Cornwall was alerted by a South Korean merchant vessel which had spotted a Somali boat acting suspiciously, the Ministry of Defence said.
The naval boarding party found weapons including rocket-propelled grenades and three skiffs used to launch attacks on the pirates' vessel.
HMS Cornwall arrived at the scene with a boarding team supported by a Lynx helicopter.
Her commanding officer, Commander David Wilkinson, said: "Our presence in the area has had a hugely significant effect on the lives of five Yemeni fishermen, who have been freed from over three months of pirate captivity and can now return to their families."

So pirates could have the right to claim asylum, how many out there think like me that asylum should be for genuine people being attacked or prosecuted not for those doing the attacking and murder.
When did they re-write the rule book, could it have been when Labour were last in power any way of getting more migrants into the UK?.
A captured Somali was given 33 years in prison in America yesterday, over here he would have got a new council house and welfare for life with the added luxury of bring over his family, you can't make this rubbish up.

I think you can, and just have - I, of course, will apologise if you can show me a link to where the UK has given a Somali pirate a new council house and brought his family over*.
*(and of course, I don't mean the caveat-filled fiction from the Mail last year, which has enough " alluded to"/"believed"/"suspected"/"possibility"/"it is understood"/"seeking to discover"/"it is possible"/"quoted"/"claimed"/"is likely to be" to satisfy any lawyer..... )

As far as housing is concerned, if asylum seekers get to stay, they get free housing, if their application is turned down, they are not deported, instead, they get free accommodation until they are ready to move back.................................WHA... is what the High Court decided on the 9th of October 2003................So in many of the outskirts of major cities, there are new housing estates being built on tax payers money to house assylum seekers. One such estate in a city in Wales was built to house over 7000 Somalian refugees, this estate has caused many problems over the years to where non-somali people are too scared to enter this estate (it sounds like a movie rather than real life)
So tell me, is this right for us Brits? Too worried to wander around our homeland for fear of asylum seekers attacking us?
Asylum seekers who are in real danger should be allowed to come to Britain but leave when things have cooled over. However I don't believe that they should be allowed to come because they want to.
Asylum seekers get all they need to survive. They are already enough of a drain on this country. Native People of the UK desperate in need of housing, medical treatment and other important things can't have them because we put so much money towards asylum seekers. So these people should not be given bigger houses just because they decide their family is cramped in the free house they are given, what would they be living in back in their own Country.
Thousands of Eastern European "displaced persons" came to the UK in 1946 and 1947 seeking asylum. They lived in makeshift army camps and worked on farms for 2 years before being released into the community to find jobs and raise families. Genuine refugees will not object to refugee camps - any camp in the UK has to be better than death in the home country. Of course, economic migrants would resent being detained and having their bogus claims checked out.
These people scream and shout about their human rights being violated, but what about our human rights, surely the government are violating the human rights of ever British nationalist in the UK by allowing this charade to carry on?
Taxpayers pay £1,600-a-week for family of ex-asylum seekers to live in luxury five-storey home
Somali refugee given £2.1million taxpayer-funded house owed £7,000 in rent on previous home
Former asylum seeker on benefits given £2 million house
I work my arse off and can barely afford to rent a house for £500 a month + on top of that bills with a mate. I've paid into the system, do i get a free £1mil house?
PS Hugh, do you even work? Are you not upset by this? Your hard earned money goes on scrounging thugs like this?

Re: Royal Navy Rescues Hostages From Pirates
Thank you for not providing any proof to back up your Littlejohn-ish claim re the Somali pirates - I have to assume you have made it up (much like a lot of Mr Littlejohn's stuff, whom you appear to have taken the "you couldn't make it up" phrase from).
Strange, I thought we had moved on from the halcyon days of the late 40s - the good old days when racism was rife, women "knew their place", and the working-class did as they were told....

Re: Royal Navy Rescues Hostages From Pirates
But your diversion has nothing to do with your original proposition, so could be seen as a "straw man" to divert from having to answer my question (which, I did, in fairness, put to you first).
But, in the spirit of co-operativeness, I will answer your question, even though you have not answered mine - yes, I do work, and pay a reasonable five figure sum in tax and NI annually, and no, exceptions and occasional abuses of a system do not bother me (that much), as any large and complex system will have abuses/loopholes - not a good idea to throw the baby out with the bathwater, imho....
btw, still waiting for your Somali pirate claim proof - you know, where you stated

Interesting rant. However, you totally forgot to mention that while it *is* possible some somali pirates might seek asylum, not all asylum seekers (whether somali or not) are pirates. You have provided no evidence that the ones you talk about are pirates.

So it has to state Somalia pirate claims asylum & gets everything given free, before you take what I say onboard. pathetic!

Oddly enough this thread is supposed to be about hostages being rescued by the Royal Navy and not a right wing political rant.
If you want to talk about something other than the rescue then open another thread rather than hijack your own thread for political reasons.
