Question HDMI / RF Output Question

I'm pretty sure I know the answer will be negative, but don't ask, don't get...

Got a new Panasonic plasma screen which is lovely, and bought a quality HDMI lead. Hooked it up to the V+ box without any bother, very happy bunny, etc.

But... (you knew that was coming!)

With the V+ set to HDMI, the RF signal that used to broadcast the V+ box signal to the other two TV's in the kitchen and bedroom has ceased. The aerial signal that goes in to the V+ box still gets transmitted out to those two TVs, so you can still get the analogue and digital aerial signals, but no V+ RF broadcast, apart from a pure black screen.

So when we want to watch V+ signal on two minor TVs, I have to go into settings and drop from HDMI to non-HDMI. On the problem scale, I know it's about a 0.25, but it would be nice to overcome this if possible. If not, no big deal, just a tad inconvenient.

Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Re: HDMI / RF Output Question

Afraid that's a 'feature' of the SA8300!

Good FAQ here...

Re: HDMI / RF Output Question

You could attach an RF modulator to the VCR scart instead. This always works but there are no menu overlays.

Re: HDMI / RF Output Question

hi you can still do it, i am using the hdmi outlet of my virgin+ box to feed the tv in my living room. When you try to use the scart outlet as well it doesnt allow it...
The way around this is to use the scart connection that says video on your box... and not the one that says tv... then go down to some where like maplins and buy a scart to rf modulator (selecting a frequency on it with the dip switches around 55 to 69, will explain in leaflet when buy it) this with give you a rf signal when also using your hdmi outlet... what you will find is this modulator allows you to plug in your main areil to so you can transmit tv to those tvs and also the virgin you wanted....
note it wont be the same quality as your hdmi though...

Thanks Mark, absolutely spot on! Bought a programmable RF modulator from Maplins. It had possibly the most inane, useless set of instructions known to man, but I used my common sense and intuition and installed it OK. Now I can have my HD on the main set and still have a standard feed to the other two TV sets in the house as well that includes the aerial feed plus whatever is on the V+ box. Happy bunny!

An analogue TV with a Freeview tuner, and a digital TV. The TV output from the programmable RF modulator goes to a amplifier which splits it into three outputs (the third is a TV tuner card in the computer). Works a treat now!
