V+ Copy Only Records in corner of screen

Hi everybody.

I'm trying to free up disc space by transferring programmes to DVD. I've been doing this for over a year without any problems, but suddenly it's started recording the programme in the top right hand corner of the screen.

If I watch a programme with the DVD recorder running it records properly, so it isn't the SCART cable.

I've noticed that the free space has gone up quite a lot without my having deleted anything. This makes me wonder if VM have copied some new firmware to my box that has increased the free space but is causing problems with copying to DVD.

Re: V+ Copy Only Records in corner of screen

Welcome to the forum.

I don't think there have been any firmware upgrades for any of the virgin boxes recently. They certainly wouldn't send out firmware upgrades around Christmas as it's probably their busiest period, and they have fewer staff available to fix any problems.

How is the box connected to the DVD recorder?

It's connected by SCART. The same process has worked flawlessly for over a year - the problem started today.

Thanks for the welcome. If possible, I'll try to give to the forum as well as taking.

Have you tried another SCART lead (just to rule out the lead)?

Try rebooting your V+. Also make sure the DVD is connected to the "VCR" SCART socket on the V+.

All well after reboot, thanks. The free space is showing a sensible amount as well.

As a long-standing unix professional, you really would have thought that I'd think of that for myself wouldn't you!

In fairness, Unix is designed to not need rebooting (much).
