Re: Copying from V+HD box to VCR.
Check the SCART leads are plugged in fully. Do you get sound if you play back a pre-recorded VCR?
ps. Welcome to the forum!

Re: Copying from V+HD box to VCR.
Hi Spiderplant
Thanx for the welcome.
Checked the scart leads, seem to be OK.No sound on pre-recorded tapes...although will check that again to be sure..
I have been told that may need to put a coaxial cable from V+ HD box to tv.(where outdoor ariel used to be.)
What do you think?

Do you really mean that? If so, that rules out there being no sound from the V+. It's a problem getting sound from the VCR to the TV.
How do you have it all connected? You shouldn't need a coaxial lead.

Re: Copying from V+HD box to VCR.
Scart from V+Box to VCR
Scart from VCR to TV
HDMI lead from V+ to TV
Not yet got around to checking pre-recorded tapes again...busy with Xmas preps.
If and when I get the sound sorted, will I have to re-copy my programmes from V+ box?

Re: Copying from V+HD box to VCR.
Have you changed the SCART from VCR to TV recently? Sometimes some SCART leads do not have all the pins (or a pin is broken).

Re: Copying from V+HD box to VCR.
First,do have sound on pre- recorded videos.
Regards to scart leads...had to mess around with them to get it to copy from V+HD box..as could not get it to even record at first.
So,a big possibilty of damage to pins but surely if there is..would not work at all!!!
Driving me mad...picture but no sound...

Re: Copying from V+HD box to VCR.
SCART leads have separate pins for audio and video, so it's possible that only the audio ones are broken. But it's stereo, and it's unlikely that you'd lose both the left and right pins.
Time for some fault finding:
First temporarily unplug the HDMI lead at one end. Doesn't matter which end.
Then connect the V+ direct to the TV by moving the SCART plug from the VCR to a spare socket on the TV. Select that input using the TV remote (button may be labelled AV, EXT, Source or have a picture of a TV screen with an arrow in it). You should be able to see the current channel from the V+. Can you also hear the sound?
If you can hear it, that means the V+ and SCART lead are ok. The fault probably lies in your VCR. Maybe you need to change its settings. (What model VCR is it? I'll see if I can find the manual online)
If you can't hear anything, either the SCART lead or V+ is faulty. Replace the SCART lead with a different one and repeat the test. If you now get sound, you know it was a bad lead. If you still have no sound, the V+ is faulty, and you should ring VM.
Don't forget to reconnect the HDMI lead when you've finished.

Re: Copying from V+HD box to VCR.
Hi Spiderplant
Wow,what a comprehensive reply!!!
Will try other scart leads, have a couple of spare ones.
What I cannot understand is why can I watch TV ok..no problem there, are we only using scarts to connect to VCR/DVD Player to TV to be able to use them...you must think me rather dense...
My DVD Player/VCR :
TOSHIBA
SD-38VBKB
Had it about six years and have the user manual.
Oh Lord, don`t fancy having to fiddle abut with settings etc. bound to make a hash of it.

When you watch TV directly, the sound (and picture) goes along the HDMI lead. So it isn't using the SCART leads at all then.

Ok, I've found the manual. Don't panic - there aren't any settings you could get wrong.
Make sure the SCART lead from the V+ is plugged into the top socket on the back of the VCR. The TV should be connected to the bottom socket.
On the V+ you should use the "VCR" SCART socket. That's the top socket if your V+ was made by Samsung, or the bottom one if it is Scientific-Atlanta.

Re: Copying from V+HD box to VCR.
Thank You for going to all this trouble for me...it is much appreciated.
Will check my scart leads later on.If that doesn`t do the trick we will have to assume it is either faulty leads or the V+ box which is, by the way, Samsung.
Will let you know how I go on...

Re: Copying from V+HD box to VCR.
Did you try connecting the TV directly to the V+ using SCART to see whether you got sound?

Re: Copying from V+HD box to VCR.
Hi
Do you mean an extra scart cable?
Should I put the cables back to how I had them and was able to copy(without sound) cos the way you told me I cannot copy at all.
The way I had them:
Bottom scart socket on V+ to bottom VCR.
Top scart socket VCR to top socket TV.
So shall I put another cable from V+ to TV? Worth a try.
