multiroom and v+hd activation help

hi all new member here

i got my virgin media service (first ever) in july and when i got it instaled i managed to get 2 v+hd boxes for free but they would not activate the v+ on the second box. now i know i already done realy well but i was wondering if there is anyway to get them to activte the second v+ for free. i have rung several times moaning and i am getting nowhere. i just think it is very excessive to pay £99 to press a button on there end , especially when i have the equipment already installed.

any help would be appreciated.

Don't see how you can do anything else, Except pay up.

Re: multiroom and v+hd activation help

You're paying a one off fee to receive a service (HD & V+ functionality) that you don't get now on the second box. I think thats reasonable. You should also get a small reduction in the second box monthly rental.

Re: multiroom and v+hd activation help

You could get extra channels by them just "pressing a button", but you wouldn't moan about paying for them. What's the difference? You would be getting something you don't get now!

Re: multiroom and v+hd activation help

You are going from a box with one active tuner to one that has three, HD capability and recording capability. Thats a big difference. You've saved youself a £20 courier charge for a self-install as you already have the box.

The comparison with BT is not the same. Sky also impose activation charges for their boxes as well, and they could afford not to, unlike VM who are servicing a huge debt.

Sky charge for installation, not activation. The customer can see the work being done during an installation. Activation goes straight in the bank for VM - you can see why some people don't understand what the charge is for.

VM's debt is irrelevant in any comparison with Sky - they have a huge physical asset to associate with that debt (their network!)

Re: multiroom and v+hd activation help

you could possibly tell them u want hd channels upstairs , that is £49 activation, to activate HD on a v+ they have to activate all V+ functions. Probably wont work when they twig u have a V+ box, but could be worth a try.
