NTL 250 Blinking ready light. Restart fixes it eventually but getting worse.

Hi there. I have been having a small problem with my NTL 250 modem over this past six months or so, maybe a bit longer actually but its been getting steadily worse as time goes on so I thought I would ask here for some advice before calling Virgin.

The problem I have been having is when the modem is first powered on it will settle down after 20, 30 secs or so with a steady sync light but has a constant blinking ready light. There is no internet connection when its in this state and I am unable to connect to 192.168.100.1

Up until a few days ago a simple power off modem, wait 30 secs and power on again normally sorted it out straight away but tonight and this past few days for have taken me 15 mins or more of this power off modem and power on again routine to finally get it working. Once up and running though I have no connectivity or speed issues at all and it will stay connected for days on end unless I switch it off.

I can still connect to my router ok when this happens and removing it and connecting directly to the modem with a device makes no difference at all so doesnt seem to be anything to do with the router side of things.

Below is my log if its any help thank you.

That sounds like you may have a faulty modem so call tomorrow after 0800 on 151 from a Virginmedia phone line or 0845 454 1111 from any other phone line and an agent will run some diagnostics with you.

Your modem power levels are fine so the is either a local issue or the modem is faulty, so you need to call technical support so they can check out your modem and connection.

By any chance are you switching it on and off to say plug the ethernet into an xbox etc?

I had a very similar problem with the same modem caused by switching from PC to xbox every now and then.

Apart from that it was an awesome modem
