V-Box/V+ Wireless Speaker

Got a bit of a question for you knowledgeable chaps and chapesses.

A few years ago I'm sure I saw a wireless speaker that played whatever was coming out of a Sky box. Eg. Speaker situated in the kitchen playing the music channels. I know I've slept a few times since then but I'm sure I didn't imagine this.

Does this ring any bells with anyone? Or do I have to start listening to people when they call me insane?!

I would like to get one or similar for my V+ box if it still exists and is compatible with it. If so, any links or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Joe

Re: V-Box/V+ Wireless Speaker

I never owned one, but I did read about it, so you were not imagining it.

If I remember correctly, it was called a "gnome box" - but I'm sure its not compatible with Virgin.

More info here ..... Sky Gnome

Hope it helps a little

According to the manufacturer's web site, you can use it with anything with an audio out connrction, but not, apparently, wirelessly.

Re: V-Box/V+ Wireless Speaker

That being the case, you are probably better off buying a small FM transmitter for £2 from Ebay - this will do the job lovely (although it has a 3.5mm jack, and not phono)

Re: V-Box/V+ Wireless Speaker

Thanks for the replies, glad to hear I wasn't imagining it.

I've had a look at the web site and there is a basic wiring diagram on there that shows a phono connection to a stereo. I wonder if I could connect this phono lead to the VCR out scart on my V+ and it would work as a speaker only in my kitchen? Although this would have to be hard wired I guess

Any thoughts on that brain wave?

Re: V-Box/V+ Wireless Speaker

You can connect phono plugs to the appropriate pins on a SCART socket. Haven't got the SCART pin-out to hand though.

Edit: Details here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scart
