Scart output from Samsung 2110?
Hello folks!
I'm just fiddling around with a new LG LCD TV I've bought and noticed the SCART output from the VM box is reported as 576i .. is that normal for the Samsung?
There doesn't seem to be anything in the VM 'Info' screens to change so perhaps there is a setting in the TV I'm not seeing ..
Can't find much info elsewhere either after a quick search ..

I've always been of the understanding that SCART is not available in different flavours and there are no options to change.
IMHO it's a horrible connector that looks like it's been designed by a committee. But there ya go.

576i is Standard definition and is all Scart is capable of.
It's all the box is capable of as well.

It's not bad when you think that SCART has been in use for 30 odd years now. I wonder if it's HDMI replacement will be around for as long.

Sorry because something has been around for 30 years does not mean it is any good, Scart is an analouge cable in a digital world!

I doubt it, there's already been 4 (at least) versions of HDMI and movies are now being recorded in 2K and 4K resolutions which HDMI can't handle.
Plus by that time 1080p won't be high definition so the name would be redundant.

It was good; for the purpose it was intended for, analogue TV. As already mentioned HDMI may be reaching its design limitations on the digital front in a fraction of the time.
I remember reading a while ago that OFCOM had allocated spectrum to allow HDTV to be distributed wirelessly between devices in the home. No more trying to hide cables. I can't wait.

Give me a cable any day of the week! Much easier solving problems when you know what you're dealing with rather than the mysteries that wireless can be sometimes.
