Ip Based CCTV
Hi All,
After having my car trashed last night by some trackie wearing chav i have decided to invest in some IP based CCTV.
Now not really sure where to start with all this as it aint something i have got any experience of!
Has anyone got any idea's
I need 2 camera's and it need to run with Win Server 2008.
I would like to be able to remote in and view the camera's and maybe have the ability to view them internally as-well without having to log on to the server via remote desktop.
Thanks

Re: Ip Based CCTV
You could probably get away with just buying two web cams and then running some software like this http://www.webcamxp.com/home.aspx
I have a similar setup for watching birds in my bird box but its a Macintosh configuration. Im going to stream it at http://watchmytits.com/ using Stickam fairly soon. (The birds are blue tits).

Re: Ip Based CCTV
I think you'll need to display a sign saying you are recording, else you could be infringing on their human rights to act like animals

Nope, public place so you can record what you want as long as that recording doesn't infringe on privacy (i.e.. a neighbours garden or window)

but there's very few places in a street where you can point a camera without doing that

1. Mount it high.
2. Mount it in your neighbour's place across the street (with a reciprocal arrangement).

Re: Ip Based CCTV
For a cheap option this is a handy camera and very cheap on the link compared to anywhere else. Its not nightvision but might be worth giving a try.
