Returning to VM

I am thinking of returning to VM now that they have all the HD channels I watch on Sky (I left VM for Sky around 18 months ago) - although I might miss History HD.

I have an old V+ box so reconnection is easy enough.

I have been on TV M for a while, and am thinking of upgrading back to XL, but is there anything I have been missing out on?

Have there been any improvements, or have things gotten worse? Has On Demand stabilised - as in the past odd episodes were often missing.

Re: Returning to VM

What box have you been using to connect to the TV service recently?

Have you been paying the £5 per month V+ charge on TV M?

Did you get a new card for the V+ recently?

Dependent on the answers to these questions, Virgin Media may ask you to pay the V+ HD activation charge of £75 to reconnect the V+, even if it is still active on their database?

Re: Returning to VM

Is the V+ connected and in use or did you disconnect it when you went to SKY, if so the box will probably no longer be on the system and will not work.

Re: Returning to VM

I used to have multiroom (I got my V+ free that way), so I had an old V box upstairs. When I left VM I took the V+ upstairs (it uses HDMI - SCART didn't display well on my upstairs TV) and just settled for the M TV service.

The V+ has been used, but only to receive the free channels and HD catch up. The recording functionality is currently disabled.

It should work fine then.

Re: Returning to VM

What's TV Choice on demand like? Has it changed much whilst I have been away?

I have just asked VM how much it would cost to come back - £9.99pm extra. Currently $ky are taking £28 of me - and in January that will go up more than VM's price so the difference will probably be greater still.

I am very tempted to return. Just need to clear off my $ky's HD first.

It's improving month after month.
There are skippable playlists if you are interested in the music side of on demand, and there are also search features now available which can search all of the on demand whether it be tv, music or movies and also the tv guide.

If you are lucky enough to own a 3D TV, they also now have 3D On Demand.
