V+ not recording BBC4
I've had my V+ Box replaced twice in the last year because it wasn't recording certain programmes. Had a new one installed last week and it still does not record BBC4. Is this a weak signal problem or a box problem does anyone know?

Box problem, if it was a signal fault it would record but the picture would break up

Would this be the first programme after BBC4 comes on air at 7pm? If so, it is a software problem. You can work round it by setting a manual recording to start at 7:01.

No, it tends to be certain programmes later in the schedule - Only Connect, Wallander, Mad Men, for example.
However, I set it to record a few other programmes last night and they did record successfully, so it's not a signal problem.
Any ideas why it records some and not others?

In what way doesn't it record them? Do you get an error code when you try to play them back, or are they not listed at all?
If they are not listed, do they show up in Planned Recordings beforehand?

They do show up in Planned Recordings but when I go to Recorded Programmes I get the message Failed next to the programme title. When I press to play, an error box comes up saying something along the lines of, Sorry but this programmed failed to record, if this keeps happening contact Virgin, etc with an Error Code which seems to differ each time. I just can't believe that after having 3 boxes in 12 months (2 of which were re-programmed before being replaced eventually) that the problem is a box problem. Are they really that error-prone? I've only had my new box for 5 days.

Forumvirgin can you make a note of the error code numbers and post them for spiderplant to look at. He really is the best member here to throw some light on what is happening but I think he will need the codes to be able to investigate further.

Does BBC4 work ok if you tune to live TV? Do you get the same problem with recordings on BBC3?

Since I came on this forum it seems to be recording ok now. Maybe it was just teething trouble? But, for those who want to know the error code, it was 2052.
Thanks for your help. This is a really useful place to go for answers.
