Security team triggers car warnings remotely.
A team from the University of Southern California has discovered a way to spoof the sensors for various warning systems in modern cars remotely.

Now, this does create a serious worry. While all they have done is spoof warning messages from the tire pressure sensors (which are compulsory in the US and apparently may be here soon as well), if the techniques developed were placed in the wrong hands, they could theoretically be used for some very bad things.

Re: Security team triggers car warnings remotely.
Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of a thief or attacker tripping a warning in a car, then when they stop, going and attacking the driver or stealing the car..

When I read it I had the same thought. Could be used in any manner of unlawful ways but not unexpected tbh with todays tech.

I wonder how long it will be before we all end up installing Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware on our cars

Reminds me of that circular Ford vs Microsoft joke email that did the rounds so many years ago
