Wink Virgin V+ Box Photos + Video Review (Samsung SMT-H3110)

Hi guys, i could find photos of the rear and found a poor video on youtube so i decided to photo the box and remote and also make a video of the V+ box and remote and how fast the channels change and how fast on demand comes up on the Samsung SMT-H3110 V+ box.

My V+ box arrived today, it was a self-install, i upgraded from the Samsung SMT-2110C (non v+ or HD box), my old box uses 15.2w on standby and 16.2w in use, i can't find figures online for the SMT-H3110, if anyone knows them please reply in here.

thanks, people are always asking questions about the V+ boxes, especially the connections and how fast it is changing channels, now people can just link to this thread.

It doesn't seem much quicker, if at all, the the SA V+ box. Looks much better though! I want one to go with my Samsung TV & Blu-Ray

Very good to have the link, although the samsung v+ box is better looking,i have heard the scientific atlanta v+ box is much better at upscaling SD content,so i would rather have the better upscaling i took sky sports HD on trial to see if there was much difference, and can honestly say although it is sharper thanks to the v+ upscaling on my S/A box not significantly so.

So although supposedly slower and not so good looking i prefer to have the better upscaling capabilities on the S/.A.

Re: Virgin V+ Box Photos + Video Review (Samsung SMT-H3110)

I've not noticed any upscaling differences between the boxes. Just had a box replaced a couple of weeks ago with the samsung as the old hard drive completely failed (ground to a halt and in the process lost all recordings on it).

The major differences I've noticed are the fact that it no longer freezes at 12am,1am and 2am any more which for me was a huge annoyance finding that I often fast forwarded to the end of a program when all I wanted to do was skip the adverts lol.

And even though the engineer said the box is pretty much the same it seems to run a lot cooler too. My old box was acting like a cooker so the cooler temperatures is a very good thing.

I got one today and the menus are much better than the SA, no jamming or sticking whatsoever. The box looks good as well.
