Recommend a router that actually gives 20mb

Hi,

I have a router and 20mb connection now even if I have excellant wifi signal and 54Mbps the router only seems to put a limit on it and only allow me 7mb connection. If I cable it I get the full 20mb.

Could you recommend a good router for a 20mb connection.

What do you mean put a cable on it? do you mean you can only get 7mb when downloading via wifi? but if you connect direct via a cable you get 20mb? if so then surely it's going to be you connected device and the signal slowing you down not the rounter

Re: Recommend a router that actually gives 20mb

Cabling it as in connecting to it via an ethernet cable to one of its ports. I get 7mb downloading via wifi but 20mb when i cable it. I only have one machine on when I get 7mb and 20mb.

I know I discussed this in the past. Let me dig up the thread.

you wont get any better over wifi, 54mbps is a load of rubbish, you get the most of 11meg lan throughput on a 54meg connection, wired is the only way to go if you want real speed, or look at .11n the new stuff is about 50meg lan throughput.
