Recycle crt TV

I am finally going to get in the modern world and change my crt for a LCD TV.

Rather than throw the old crt away I would like to recycle it, does anyone know if they are useful for anything or if there are any recycling schemes for them?

Cheers

I'm in the same boat... high grade CRT monitor to a good home... but not doing Frecycle again after some knobs locally started accepting stuff then flogged it all on ebay and carboot sales.

Re: Recycle crt TV

All waste centres normally have a special area for TV's, if though it's still working put it on one of the many "free to a good home" sort of sites as if someones got a use for it then it then it might as well be used

Re: Recycle crt TV

Only real use is if you can find a store that still does CRT trade ins to get a discount on your new telly. Sony did one through the world cup, don't know if it's still going.

Re: Recycle crt TV

My local TV shop can hardly give them away. Ther's usually a few piled up on the pavement outside the shop for a tenner a time.

I don't see the problem Taf, if you can't be bothered to go through the rigours of selling it yourself then what's the problem with someone else doing it?

P.S. Moved into a more appropriate forum as it is not a VM issue

Re: Recycle crt TV

Thanks for the suggestions guys and wasn't sure which section to post in, sorry Graham.
If I can find the space to store it I'll stick it on eBay otherwise it will be off to the local recycle site.
