Sky talk a load of crap

I was reading an article today, claiming that if Sky are forced to reduce the wholesale price of the sports channels to BT and VM, it will effect Premier League football.

Absolute rubbish, Sky are very expensive and it is only other broadcastors that sell it cheaper to attract more customers, the PL is the most lucrative league in the world for money, IF Sky pulled out tomorrow, then there would be loads of interest from other companies to take over.

The amount of reliance on Sky's TV money and the level of debt and reliance on sugar daddies amongst the clubs says otherwise. The Premier League themselves along with several other sports bodies also say otherwise.

Sky is not 'very expensive' given the investment in content, and regardless the issue isn't Sky's retail prices.

Agreed, its the over the top price they charge other company's to carry their premium services, by charging such a high amount this in itself allows Sky to maintain a monopoly.

Re: Sky talk a load of crap

the thing is why are sky so concerned about the welfare of the PL.

this is their problem, I said in another thread they seemed to deliberatly bid high as if they wanted football to get out of control.

Before anyone mentions ESPN, before last year they were not involved and the only way setanta ever got their foot in was regulation.

Re: Sky talk a load of crap

The PL paid silly wages on the back of Sky. Is this Sky's fault or the PL? Or were they in league to monopolise football broadcasting?
