Samsung V+ - No Audio Outputs

I have been told by the man from Virgin they should really change my V+ box. I am in an old NTL region and the box is one they adopted when they took over Telewest so it's around three years old but here lies a problem, the new Samsung box they want to install does not have separate audio outputs and as my TV is a three year old Philips the HD connection is via a DVI point and a separate audio cable needs to be run from the cable box to the television. This was no problem with the old box as that has the separate audio outputs but as I said before the Samsung box doesn't. I seem to have found away round the problem and that is via a scart adapter running an audio cable from the VCR scart output of the V+ box to the television.

Now this seems to work well with my ex-Telewest box, though I haven't yet tried all functions such as pay per view etc, but my question is will this set up work with the Samsung V+ box? Will there be any loss of functionality if I have the Samsung box installed and have the audio connected like this?

Re: Samsung V+ - No Audio Outputs

Using a SCART adaptor will work and is the recommended solution. The only feature you'll lose is the ability to do simultaneous archiving of recordings to a DVD or VCR, because this also requires the VCR SCART socket.

Many thanks for the reply, Virgin weren't a lot of help. The guy who called couldn't recommend a solution but had been told running the signal through my DVD recorder may help but then I wouldn't be able to take advantage of the HD channels, presumably it was because that has audio outputs but advised to phone in to their call centre for advice. That guy suggested I could purchase a HDMI lead which has seperate audio cables attached. Not sure how that would work as I thought the two audio signals were completely different. It's not an unusal problem and I would have thought Virgin should have been able to recommend a fix without a second thought.
