Re: 3D boxes
Yes, they aren't new boxes though the existing HD ones can do it so long as you have a capable TV.
No idea about Virgin but Sky are going to be doing it later this year.

The speed which VM have embraced HD doesn't bode well for anyone hoping to get 3D-TV on the network any-time soon.
As far as I'm concerned I agree with zing, I don't see any massive future for 3D-TV in the next few years outside of it being a novelty, I'd guess there will be far more mileage in HD.

Re: 3D boxes
I can see 3D having more scope in the gaming market, but even it may be a bit gimmicky for a while.

Re: 3D boxes
what you have to bare in mind is SKYs way you need twice as many pixels across the horizontal to get full 1920 on each pic. Sony Panny etc way means each pic is full HD on a 1920 res screen

Re: 3D boxes
What version of HDMi does the V+ have as according to HiDef Digest any 1.3 HDMI device should be able to get a firmware update to support 3D including sat and cable boxes.

Re: 3D boxes
I'm really chuffed that 3D is being touted for the home. Not because I think it's any good for anything other than the occasional cinema experience or theme-park ride, but because it will hopefully drive down the cost of HD channels as they cease to be the 'premium' option.
3D TV in the home can whistle, as far as I'm concerned.

But the Sony Panny way needs a 1080p50 capable encoder and STB to be able to show 25 frames per eye per second to avoid flicker. So new encoders and STB's besides the new TV. Sky's way just needs a new TV. I've seen it demo'd and was very impressed at how 3D it was.
