What deals are people finding that VM are giving?

I support the view that the VM package build up is confusing. In my experience both as a customer setting up in Sept 2008 and as " a mate in the pub", people seem to get fairly inconsistent quotes and some get big discounts if they threaten to leave at contract end. Would it be appropriate for the forum to share good news on discounts so we can all benefit?

Any tips greatly welcomed since I'm approaching contract end.dunce:

I think discounts probably depend on a per-customer basis. Eg. If you have the XXL BB, XL TV and XL Phone with extras, and been with vm for say.. 10 years, they would I suspect be more willing to give discounts, as they will be losing significant revenue should you leave. However I think they will be getting wise to the "i'm leaving after my contract ends" thing.

It's a great site if your time is so worthless you can spend hours upon hours of it trying to save a few quid. I tend to rate mine in terms of how much my employer pays me which makes it a bit of a disincentive. I pay the going rate for services, as I always have across all ISPs and cable / TV services I've had. How boring am I?

In other news the new VM TV advert is seriously extracting the urine. Advertising a 'great call package' while quoting the triple play price at 19.50 (needs a VM phone line which is not included of course) is pretty misleading given they are also selling you the phone line.

The phone package is Talk Weekends - which you only get if you take out other services.

If you take the phoneline by itself you get Talk Off Peak instead

The point is the price. They are selling you Internet, TV and a telephone line but only quoting the price of the Internet and TV package with the caveat that a VM telephone line is required - that's misleading.

No more so that Sky or any other provider that quote the cost of their services ex-BT landline cost, and then require you to have one

Err they aren't trying to sell you the land line as part of the package. They state 'BT or Sky Talk line rental payable' - if they were to require Sky Talk line rental then it gets dicey. VM's package the telco rental from VM is a required and core part of the product.

Find me any other provider who both sells a triple play which requires you pay line rental to them and forgets to mention the price of it in their advertising.

Point is Sky aren't selling the line rental as part of the package, VM are and absolutely require you take it from them, but aren't mentioning its' price.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, advertising on companies' own websites anything goes, but banner ads, TV and radio, and in print is a bit different.

The Â£19.50 price is a Triple services deal - TV M+ (Â£5.50), BB L (Â£14) and Talk Weekends.

It will also have had at least text at the bottom which would have said about the phoneline if not mentioned as part of the voiceover

This is an incredibly pointless discussion I see. If you don't see the problem with the scenario really no point in discussing things

It's clearly fine to quote a price ignoring that one must purchase extra items from the supplier to get that price.

Nice attitude pal.

Bearing in mind the current economic situation in the UK, there are plenty of people out there who need to 'save a few quid', but whose time certainly isn't worthless.

In fact, some of the deals and offers on that site are so useful that I think you should have a quick look - no matter how valuable your time is at the moment.

No-one is ignoring anything.

The adverts where phonelines are involved containts the total price just split into two figures.

When you place the order online the basket shows the combined price.
When you order via a human they *should* give you the total price
When you get the contract it gives you the total price.

Also Virgin aren't the only ones to do it.
