Just ordered V+HD box....
Spoke to Call Centre twice yesterday regarding updating to V+HD box. Got two different prices?? Sent an e-mail stating what I wanted and asking for someone to phone me to discuss. Didn't get a phone call just an e-mail telling me something different again. Thought I'd bite the bullet and phoned again this afternoon. Was told that as I was on TV XL I could have the upgrade to a new box for £49.00 with no monthly fee just the one off payment. Asked if he was sure he was right and he assured me that he was.
Does anyone know if he was right because if I get charged more I will be a little bit annoyed and they will get another phone call just like they did when they tried to charge me more for the TV when they mis-sold it to me.

£49 sounds right to me. They should be telling you right, and it seems reasonable as you are on the XL TV package.

Re: Just ordered V+HD box....
Existing customers have to keep their standard box for £5 a month in order to get the £49 V+ deal

Re: Just ordered V+HD box....
If they have done so then it's a good deal
It should be £99 if it's a straight swap when on XL
It's supposed to £49 only if you keep your existing STB for £5 a month

I am having a new box. I did question him about the price and he assured me that he was right, he even went away to check. I can see an argument brewing if he is wrong.

Re: Just ordered V+HD box....
I got mine for £49.
They asked me to keep the additional box for £5 but I was only obliged to keep this for 30days as it was an additional service. So I cancelled it 2 weeks into the 30 days and they came and collected the box and didn't charge me any extra.
I know a few people who have done the same and I know a few who just got it for £49 with a little bit of an argument. Even getting my £49 back when I switch back to a v-box

£49 for me, no £5/month, no quibbling, no arguments.

Why would they do that? A V+ is a 12 month term

Because I have had nothing but problems since I got the V+ box and I have now had 3 of them and they rang me after getting one of my various calls/tweets/emails/newsgroup/letters to ask what I wanted to do and I have the option of after the network engineer has been on Saturday to either try another v+ box, end my VM contract or go back to a v-box and have my £49 installation fee credited to my account.
So my missus wants to goto a v-box whereas I want to end the contract and not bother with any. V+ isn't worth the hassle.

That's fair enough then - but it isn't what would usually happen

Re: Just ordered V+HD box....
i thought it was a bit ridiculous that when I asked them to change both our standard boxes for V+ ones, they said it'd be £49 for the first and £150 for the 2nd!!
we've been customers since 1997 and have always had XL TV.
since the boxes are only rented, why £150 for the 2nd?
I said I was prepared to pay £49 for each box, but they wouldnt budge.

Not to sound short but it costs that much because that is the price Virgin set for the V+ boxes.

Re: Just ordered V+HD box....
it just seems very excessive for something you're only renting from them.
if it was an extra charge per month, £5, 10 i could understand.
if they can offer one box at £49, why not 2?
