Talk Anywhere

Am I missing something or is this over-priced? I renewed my contract about 6 weeks ago and reduced my bill slightly and also tried out this service. I've got talk anywhere 200 for £11 as my wife phones home to Luxembourg a few times a month. However, talk international is only £1.50 and allows calls at 3p per minute, surely this is cheaper?

When I renewed I was told I was tied into a 12 month contract for XL TV, Phone M, and BB L but could cancel talk anywhere and sky movies at any time as they are additional services. Does anyone know if this is correct? Looking online it seems to state a 12 month contract.

Re: Talk Anywhere

talk anywhere can be cancelled any time wheras sky movies and sports require a minimum subscription period of 30 days after which it can be cancelled anytime.

Re: Talk Anywhere

Thanks for the replies, called CS and cancelled Talk Anywhere. I wasn't aware there was a connection fee for international calls and can see no evidence of this on my Bill (I am now using talk international).

Even if the connection fee did apply it would still be cheaper as we usually make about 6 calls a month for any thing between 20 minutes to an hour.

cheers

Re: Talk Anywhere

The connection fee is built into the total cost of the call - it is not shown seperately

www.virginmedia.com/callcosts for all call costs (obviously)

---------- Post added at 15:25 ---------- Previous post was at 15:18 ----------

The connection fee is now 8.8p

Re: Talk Anywhere

Definitely not getting charged a connection fee, looking at the last two calls on my current bill

Luxembourg 0035283xxxxx 23:00 £0.66
Luxembourg 0035283xxxxx 56:00 £1.50

It states that calls to Luxembourg are 2.93ppm (I thought it was 3ppm) but the above are charged at differing, and marginally lower, rates with no connection charge incorporated into the cost of the call.

Of course, all makes sense now, thanks. Obviously having a particularly slow day.

Even with this connection charge it still works out a lot cheaper to go with talk International than with Talk Anywhere, for us at least. We also don't need to worry about being charged more when we exceed the inclusive minutes.

I used to be quite astute, seems our new son has finally addled my brain through lack of sleep. Must regain my levels of concentration!

I do realise that. I'm sure it works out as a great deal for many people, I was just looking at it from my own perspective.

We have plenty of inclusive minutes on our mobile contracts and tend to use them for day to day calls, the only time we use the landline is to call internationally to either France or Luxembourg, the phones used for almost nothing else. In our case, once I'd bothered to look into it, i realised that talk international worked out much cheaper.
