Sounds like a good idea. Of course, there will be people all over Edinburgh, Cardiff and Dublin who are wondering why on earth this is considered newsworthy. What a pity that the English have become so coy about their identity that celebrating the national day has the air of controversy about it.

The problem with the whole PC thing is the press will highlight a few extreme examples and assert that as a representation of the country as a whole. They will find some minority group who doesn't like this day, or any changes to the plan, and try to make that into another front page 'PC Madness!!!' story.
