As Tinky says, it's about time that this happened. They must have had to spend a lot of money to bring the accommodation up to modern standard.

Watched a programme on TV the other night, in which three of the potential lady Chelsea pensioners were shown round the accommodation/facilities, and introduced to some of the 'lads'. There was a great deal of kissing going, I can see a few romances developing. Good luck to em!

There was a series of programmes on BBC Four last year about the Royal Hospital, the last one showed the the modernisation about to start.

coming from a large military family myself i cannot understand why this didn't happen 20-30yrs ago
i have no doudt that it would have been unlikely we would have won(i use that term losely) the ww1/2 without the aid of the women who served in the armed forces and the womens land army and worked in factories the list goes on

good luck to them just a shame that so few from the wars ar left now to enjoy it
