Whats the size compared to a standard cable box?

After moving the internet to a cable modem, im considering getting a V+ box, what is the size of the box compared to a standard one?

Mine is pretty old by now.

This is the one I have (From 2003 I believe)

Re: Whats the size compared to a standard cable box?

Mine is approximately 40cm in length, 9.5cm in height (a fair bit of this is the feet) and 27cm deep but you need more than this clearance for the cables.

I believe from memory this makes the v+ bigger certainly in height than some of the standard boxes.

Re: Whats the size compared to a standard cable box?

It's approx the same size as an old Pace box like yours, probably slightly taller and a little deeper.

The actual size is 400mm (wide) x 285mm (deep) x 83mm (tall)

Re: Whats the size compared to a standard cable box?

If you're a bit tight on space on the tv stand the extra superchunkyness of the v+ in terms of it's height could be a problem. If you're got plenty yeah it's about the same size, ish.

It is very pretty and not as wide as the old black box, but you will only get what is on the van.

New V+ on top old V+ on the bottom.

Information and pictures of Virgin Media's new Samsung 3110 V+ box have been leaked, with talk of MPEG4 compression

Re: Whats the size compared to a standard cable box?

Any idea on when the new box is coming out?

Also, will the charge be added to the monthly payment? or will it just be a seperate payment?

Re: Whats the size compared to a standard cable box?

From those pictures, a bit of on screen measuring and back-of-envelope calculations gives the width of the new V+ as 36cm*. Perfect for me

(*=assuming old V+ is 40cm wide)

I think the SA box looks old fashioned, especially compared with the coolness of the Sk+HD box!

The Samsung V+ is only entering trials just now so I don't see it being available till after middle of the year at earliest.

V0id it doesn't look cheap at all, its a well built box and really nice

I have seen it close up with the old box below it and it does look like a nice piece of kit and well built, the size is also better being more compact.
