Is there something Wrong with the Internet?

These last few weeks I have had a problem with webpages. Slow, sometimes just not loading.

I used "mybroadbandspeed.co.uk" and it usually comes out 5 to 9 Mb but if I use a ping tracer like pingplotter, I get lots of lost packets (between 10 and 100%.

It seems to me that the speed tester just holds up if the packet loss is high so it doesn't register the true situation.

The source of the lost packets is usually somewhere along the VM network, definitely outside my network. Sometimes it seems to lie outside VM.

Anyone got any knowledge?

I can supply ping plots if necessary.

PS I'm in hte Reading area
