Help with WinXP \ MCE2005 Networking Please

Hi,

I have a WinXP Pro computer (P182) connected to a MCE2005 computer (Zeus), with the aid of a friend we built and installed the networking components to have the two systems communicate and share files with each other, in the MCE box I have 2 1TB drives so plenty of space, whilst on the P182 1TB of space, plus a USB drive connected using a IcyBox 'Caddy'.

Everything has been going well, no problems with the MCE box all week then earlier today, I noticed that the drives kept dissapearing from Windows Explorer. I refreshed and they would suddenly reappear, then after a short while they would dissapear again but ONLY the drives in the MCE box, the ones listed under the 'My Network' which also shows the shares on this computer 'P182' were still there and have behaved faultlessly.

Then suddenly this evening I received this error:

It reads: "\\ZEUS\Media 02 (D) is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions." it also says: "Not enough server storage is available to process this command".

So I googled and found various sugestions, from the relatively easy though slightly daunting: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913628 (I've never liked editing the registry, owing to my never understanding what I'm messing with); To the convaluted: http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1056577268 (it's a fault that's been around a while it seems) to the well I don't know what the answer is: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316019 , http://www.computing.net/answers/net...ble/32917.html , http://www.techsupportforum.com/netw...tml#post536782 to the Ok, I'm lost: To the ahh, this sounds like the answer: http://www.computing.net/answers/net...ble/32917.html

So I moved to the MCE box, then set about checking the accounts, sure enough there was several that didn't match my name. This is owing to my friend not bothering to set up an account for me on MCE but instead we just started throwing the software installations at the box and hoping that things would turn out as we hoped ie: it would work.

I typed 'control userpass2' and pressed the 'Add' account button, put the letter 'd' and gave it no password, as I recall that windows didn't need a password as such, you would just type 'control userpass2' again and then highlight the account to log on without asking for a password. It was at this point that I rebooted MCE and crossed my fingers, the computer rebooted and now I find myself in a pickle!

Instead of booting straight into the account that I am used too, the one that I spent ages setting up, the account I assumed was the default administrator account. Instead I received a small box with a horse head logo and the letter 'd' next to it. It boots into this new profile and goes about creating various settings all imported from my hidden Administrator account, there are no other names available to me when I log back off or try to switch users, I receive the same single log on choice everytime I reboot, just the single 'd' which I click on and it takes me back into that account. After it loads I click on Control Panel, Users and get a choice of the following accounts 'Guest', 'Asp.NET Machine A....' and 'd' of course, no more. If I try to type 'control userpass2' whilst I am in this account or any of the others, the settings box doesn't come up. I have no control or ability to access the other accounts at all and I can't seem to find the account that should be the one I've made my default profile and don't know how to get back into that other account from where I am to be able to rectify the problem mentioned above.

Has anyone any ideas?
