The etiquette of snowball fights
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7874587.stm
I was quite interested in this part:

When police in Hertfordshire warned children that throwing snowballs in an "irresponsible way" could face arrest or a fine, they were branded "winter killjoys".

While I think snowballs are fun, you can be anti-social with them. In my town over the past week I have seen idiotic kids causing a lot of problems with snowballs (and other methods). One time while I was in a car pelted with snowballs, including the windscreen.
The worst one I saw involved one of those security vans. A bunch of kids (aged around 11/12/13) ran to it, started pelting it and one attempted to open the door. This caused an alarm to ring, and I believe it was immobilised as it froze and the guy inside seems to be unable to get out!

Re: The etiquette of snowball fights
There's snowballs and there snow scrunched up to something more akin to a crystal ball with optional pebble enclosed ball.

Re: The etiquette of snowball fights
You're lucky if it's only a pebble in there - all sorts of things (that one would normally find on the ground) can be placed in the middle of snow balls.

Re: The etiquette of snowball fights
The number one rule?
Never attempt to pick up, or throw, yellow snow.

Re: The etiquette of snowball fights
In theory you could wrap a live grenade in a lot of snow, now that is anti-social.

Re: The etiquette of snowball fights
Can't find a link yet but I just heard a snippet of news in which a man appears to have been beaten senseless by a gang of youths he asked to stop throwing snowballs at his car.....

Re: The etiquette of snowball fights
With the lil kids its harmless fun, the problem is the gangs of pondlife that bomb houses and do it with the sole purpose of annoying people.
