Linksys Wireless B Broadband Router

Hello

I have a Linksys Wireless B router BEFW11S4v4 that will not connect to the internet.

I recently changed from cable modem to DSL any way Linksys is telling me they will have to reconfig the router and wanted to charge me $29!

I was hoping someone could help me reconfig my router?

Thanks

Re: Linksys Wireless B Broadband Router

Cable Modem to DSL. Not quite sure what you are trying to do there since DSL assumes you have a separate modem

Generally a reset to factory will sort most things. Should be a little button on the back to press in with something like a pencil for a few seconds with the power on.

Whatever modem you are connecting to, make sure the power is off on both modem and router, when you swap the connections over.

A "B" speed wireless router is quite old these days. I'd be tempted to be putting it in the bin since most devices that can connect wireless will these days be at least "G" speed.

Re: Linksys Wireless B Broadband Router

latest update for this one is here http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/...W11S4/download

but as far as i can see this will only work with cable not dsl

i would go get a new one

hmm seems there is more than one type of this one

the pdf from http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/...S4-v4_ug,0.pdf

seems to not have dsl

but http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/...S4-v4_ug,0.pdf

seems to have it doing both so there maybe a firmware that will do it

but still i think a new one would be a better idea

Re: Linksys Wireless B Broadband Router

I agree a G or better would be for the best however I'm just running my laptop off of it and when I had a cable modem a few months ago the B suited me just fine. I have since went to DSL and for some reason the DSL modem appears to be blocking my router IP address. I have tried resetting the router however it will not let me connect to the internet. RogerM might be right it seems I have the router that does not have DSL. Linksys says all they have to do is config the B router and it will work. The problem is they want to charge me a fee and I figure if I cannot reconfig the router myself it would be worth putting the money towards a new router vs giving it to Linksys.
Thanks for the help
Bob
