Strange internet

Hey

Well , I recently upgraded my internet from 2mb to 10mb and they said see if it has been upgraded after 24hrs, and I checked on the main computor where the modem and router are and it has been upgraded to 10mb. I then checked it on my computor and it is still 2mb, (speedtest.com) and various others. We have a

Laptop
Main pc
Brothers pc
My pc

I use a ethernet cable and I also when I want to play on xbox live , unplug my ethernet cable from the back off my pc and plug it into my xbox and that is downloading demos at 10mb. So there is a error somewhere on my pc where it is blocking etc. I also do not use a firewall but just wondered if someone could give me some tips or tweaks to fix this rather than me having to format my pc and re-install windows

Thanks for reading

Ellz

Re: Strange internet

It's your Ethernet card. It's probably on half duplex (or something like that) - you can check this on the network settings. If it says 10/100 then see if you can change it to 100/100. If you can't then take yourself down to the nearest PC World, throw them a fiver and they'll give you a new card. Stick that in and away you go.
