Pc possible video card problem

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help.

When I boot up my wifes pc the screen has vertical lines across the monitor screen, as thw first Windows screen comes up the vertical lines are still there but they have changed to blue.

After a second I get a box saying 'Monitor is going to sleep' then screen goes blank and that is it.

If i boot the pc and press F8 and boot into safe mode the display is ok and I can work in safe mode, next when restarting into normal mode once the pc starts up again the problem is back.

Could this be a video card problem?

It is a Gigabyte board about 5 years old with a navidea 128mb agp video card.

Thanks.

Re: Pc possible video card problem

You were so right Stuart.

I remembered I had a spare navidia 256mb agp card, slotted that in and it seems to e ok so far.

Thanks for the response.

Re: Pc possible video card problem

Yep, sounds like a problem with the video memory or the address lines from the memory to the GPU..

Glad you've got it sorted
