VM what a joke!

Having contacted VM lots of times someone finally called back and left a message on our answer phone telling me there is a problem in my area and to note down the times that it all goes titsup and they will look at getting me some money refunded.

OK that sounds good, until i ring back with some dates and times, i ring 150 to start with and some girl on the other end tells me she is new and cannot deal with my problem as she is still learning or something or other after i had explained my situation to her, she informs me that maybe someone in faults can help me, after being transfered to faults and trying to explain to the guy on the other end what i have been told by an VM representative who has rang me and left a message i am totally ignored by this person who tells me that there are infact "no issues" in my area and that he wants to run some tests on my connection i inform him that i am at work, my modem is turned on but that is all, i am told to ring back when i can access my PC also and he can then do the tests, which he will then no doubt tell me the same as every other time i have rang and they have "tested" my connection.

i am now back infront of my PC but i would sooner repeatidly slam the car door on my hand than ring up these unhelpful idiots who do not seem to have the ability to listen to what i am saying or think i am just lieing about VM phoning me.

and to top it all off i have just done a speed test from the FTP VM/BY site with the game demos that people keep saying to use, see attachment for my amazing speed! -- well i would add the screen shot as an attachment but it doesnt seem to want to upload to the site, ill do it later

Not neccesarily true - If you get the right person, at the right time. I had major BB problems awhile back and was given 3 months 1/2 price BB as compensation.

I think you'll find that all ISP's are trying to run a perfect service 'as per their adverts' - but invariably not suceeding

p.s. what was the actual problem?

Re: VM what a joke!

problem is basicly this, i can use the net as normal during the day up until about 6:30pm to 7pm then everything goes to a complete crawl, google.co.uk for example will time out as does 95% of sites i visit when they do finally load they usually load with errors hedders etc not in the correct place for example these forums currently look white to me with a thin black boarder around peoples posted messages, if i goto a site that has images they usually do not load, to get to this site and post this message took me about 6 minutes because everything loads that slowly, and it is like this until about 11pm or just after when suddenly it all comes back to life.

if i do trace routes i am getting p/l on afew hops at any time of the day which doesnt help with online gaming, and if i could post the screen shot i took earlier you would see my amazing download speed of just over 500kb woohoo half a meg per sec! just like back in the old days!

this all started towards the end of july just before i went on holiday.

Re: VM what a joke!

Callbacks are always going to be a bit iffy with any ISP, I'd probably recommend being at your machine/home whenever you ring them just incase you get one of the 2% of helpful people their end.

Is there a possibility you're being traffic managed?
If you're on 20mb, traffic management when hit will give you 500kb.

That depends on the ISP and how many customer service awards they've won

as for being traffic managed... well i was under the impression 20mb line was cut to 10mb or 5mb or something but not not 512k

My friends tell me on their 20mb lines they get droped to 5mb(think they get around 500-600KB/sec..maybe a bit less) if they get traffic managed.

If I was you i'd download 1 of them usage monitors (everytime you go on the net it monitors how much you use.. most use it for torrents so they dont go over their limits during peak hours) - this way you can tell VM exactly how much youve used when you phone up for assistance.

Re: VM what a joke!

ok, no its not just me who uses the connect but i can 100% guarantee that nothing is being downloaded.

as for the speeds and being traffic managed, i think some of you are getting your bits and bytes mixed up, i said if you had read me earlier post i am not being slowed down to 5mb my speed is 512k or HALF A MEG PER SECOND.

can i also add that EVEN if i was getting traffic managed that would not effect webpages to that degree, whether you are on 20mb, 10mb or half a meg as i was when NTL frist released their cable service NO website should not take anything from 40 seconds upwards to load or time out 5 times then not load correctly until i refresh the page several times.
