Outlook 2007 Problem
a few days ago i recieved a message saying that the outlook mail file had reached its limit and to delete unwanted mail.
The file size of the outlook file is 19GB.
I spent time backing up email that wasnt really important and backed it to a seperate PST file, 6784 emails created a 1.74GB file and i then deleted these emails from outlook.
Problem i have is that im still recieving the message that outlook file is at the max and the filesize is still 19GB.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Outlook 2007 Problem
Did you delete them from Outlook or just put them in the bin?

Re: Outlook 2007 Problem
If after a proper deletion (from the bin and not just too the bin) it's still saying the same then do a scanpst

Re: Outlook 2007 Problem
They'll still be available in Recover Deleted Items, meaning they are still in the mailbox.
Run Recover Deleted Items, and remove them from there.

Re: Outlook 2007 Problem
Try compacting down your PST as well, this will make it decrease in some size.

Re: Outlook 2007 Problem
Matthew is correct - you'll need to compact the PST file. Look in PST properties / advanced - think it's in there.

Re: Outlook 2007 Problem
problem solved, i backed up what i wanted and deleted everything, the file itself must have been corrupt, even when ALL emails were deleted and it was empty the file size was still 17.6GB.
I created a new file and put back the emails i really need to keep and refur to and it was under 5.5GB.

You could have just exported the PST to a second PST...that would have defraged and compressed it...
