Trouble with HDMI PC cable to TV

Trying to transfer picture from laptop to Samsung TV with PC hdmi port. It worked before, but now the tv is saying there is no signal on the PC source on tv when plugged in.

have you got it on the correct input on the tv and also the desktop resolution set right, as the pc input on the samsung tv's is a vga connection not hdmi you more than likely will need to select hdmi 1/2 or 3 dependent on model, also again dependent on model if you have set the resolution to say 1080p (1920x1080) and your tv is not a 1080p tv it wont display the image.

The TV only has one PC port and on the tv settings there is only one input that says PC and my CPU highest resolution is 1380 by 768 pixels and when i changed it to the the tv screen remained black and on it, it said mode not supported.

Try (if you can) setting the PC to 1280x720 instead. You might want to check the refresh rate too to make sure it's compatible with the TV.

what is the refresh rate and how do u check it. and everytime i chage the resolution do i have to restart cpu or should it just pop up on the tv?

I would have thought 50 or 60 should be fine for the refresh rate (could be wrong though). If you've got the manual for the TV it will probably say in there about the refresh rate.

In terms of the resolution change, I would have thought that so long as Windows registers the resolution change correctly it should be OK.

Do you know what graphics chip the PC has? It's possible that could be hindering things depending on how the drivers use the EDID data from the TV.

ok i found it and yes its set for 60 hetz there is no other setting for that.

i fixed it i had to go to something called a NVIDIA control panel and set up there.
