Unhappy ntl 200 modem connection problems

hi im new here, i have a ntl 200 modem that keeps losing connection, when plugged in to my wireless router it works occasionally, but it i plug the ethernet cable directly into my laptop/xbox it works for about 10-15 min then connection becomes low and pages dont load or xbox live signs out.
I then have to unplug the power supply to my modem for a few seconds and plug it back in once its rebooted it works again for the same amount of time, the connection seems to be slow and unable to load page when the u/s light is not on.
please could someone help me get to the root of this problem as virgin dont seem to have the answer.
many thanks.

Sounds faulty to me, ring virgin up and they will send you a nice shiny 256 for you, OR:

Log into the modem via the IP below and post your power levels, which should be under "status"

http://192.168.100.1/

User and password both "root" without quotes, do not post your MAC or serial number.
