Belkin Wireless g Router- messed up IP address - help!

Hope someone can help

I am struggling to get the above router to work properly so that it will provide wireless service to my laptop.

In its web interface which I used to be able to get by accessing http://192.168.2.1/ I have managed to change its IP address

I have found my default gateway address through ipconfig which I believe is the internal address for the router - but its web interface does not load when I load this page in firefox

I am on XP

Any ideas guys ?? TIA

If you have a note of all the settings, try doing a factory reset to return it to the default address.

Re: Belkin Wireless g Router- messed up IP address - help!

Thanks guys

Unfortunately I cannot get to the factory restore screen - because I need the Ip address to access it
The default gateway IP identified through config/all only opens a blank screen

I have tried to reinstall using the CD - get an error message which says - problems communicating

I can't see a way to uninstall it and start again

Have checked the Belkin site - but nothing seems to tackle my problem

cheers

There will be a way to do the factory reset without using the web. Usually, it's just a case of holding the reset button for around 10-15 seconds, possibly while powering up the router.

You might need to consult your manual, or look up the router on the Belkin support site.

Re: Belkin Wireless g Router- messed up IP address - help!

Hi! try connecting the router to your PC using the supplied Ethernet cable, then you should not need an IP address, if your network adaptor is set for auto detect (which in most cases it should be) HTH!
