Obese blamed for the world's ills
Quote:
Obese people are contributing to the world food crisis and climate change, experts say.
The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine calculated the obese consume 18% more calories than average.
They are also responsible for using more fuel, which has an environmental impact and drives up food prices as transport and agriculture both use oil.

I kind of agree.

I thought it was going to say they fart more. Methane is a very potent greenhouse gas.

Re: Obese blamed for the world's ills
I defiantly agree.
I work cleaning a city centre near where i live.
And all you see all day - the odd couple is...........fat people.
Everywhere is fat people, lazy ass mofo's, who can just about walk there so fat.
They need starving.
And while i was working today, we ran out of sugar for a cup of tea/coffee, so i went to b and m bargains, couldn't find no sugar at all, so i asked 1 of the workers where the sugar is and they said they've had no sugar for over 2 weeks :O
I was like wtf...
So i went to asda next door, and there sugar stocks were very low?
Maybe something of a food crysis going on?

Re: Obese blamed for the world's ills
I have to say what a load of crap.
What about the bulimic? they eat and eat and vomit it back up? Then there is the anorexic to help even it all out. And as for using more fuel ,when I was morbidly obese I didnt feel the cold in the winter as I had a nice layer of blubber to keep me warm
I find this insulting and one post here already is insulting also.
The food crisis when it does happen properly is becuase there are far to many of us alive. We are all living longer due to new medicines and the world is just over populated
I spose if you want you could kill the fat the disabled and various others to help the problem. And maybe we should praise the gays as they do not add to the over population(sarcastic mode off )

Re: Obese blamed for the world's ills
What about them bloody non-smokers and teetotallers? They live longer and therefore consume more food (and health care). Oh hang on, obese people tend to die earlier as well, so perhaps they don't consume more food after all. Clearly, we need more smokers, heavy drinkers and obese people. It's our duty to the planet.

Re: Obese blamed for the world's ills
What really gets on my nerves is the fact that every failing government has to find a scapegoat. And its tends to be the ones with enough on their plate as it were (pun intended) who they pick on. Maybe just for once it would be nice to hear them say "yeah guys we really messed up the country sorry"

This particular one has nothing to do with the government though. Just a couple of researchers at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Re: Obese blamed for the world's ills
The truth is, we all play a part in the destruction of the planet... It's just that some of us play a bigger part than others.

Re: Obese blamed for the world's ills
I'd say the rich are also to blame - I mean they tend to drive much bigger cars and have large homes which require more heating and are full of devices which huge amounts of energy to run. They have multiple annual holidays and travel on business more. Man also have 2nd, 3rd , 4th homes overseas which they normally fly to hence creating even more carbon emissions. They probably also consume and waste a lot more food simply because they can afford to. Ban the rich I say!!!

Re: Obese blamed for the world's ills
How many of us have more than one computer in the home and how many of them are left on 24/7?
I have 3 pc's and a laptop, one pc is on about 5 hours a day, the laptop is on for about 16 to 18hrs a day. The other two pc's are just spare and only used if needed which is very rare.

Re: Obese blamed for the world's ills
I haver to admit i am a bit sceptical over this whole manmade climate change thing and am not totally convinced this isn't good ol mother earth haveing some fun all on her own. What i am totally convinced of is it has become a complete godsend to governments (tax increases) and bad scientists (all that extra so called research) and for that reason there is too much of an agenda for us to get any real facts.
