Total Control AV sender

I have had fitted a new Samsung SMT-2110C "V" box receiver from Virgin Media. The problem I have is that I cannot get the Virgin remote to work in the bedroom. I get a good picture but cannot change channels. The red light flashes on the sender downstairs but will not change channels etc. I have tried locating the eye in various different positons around the box but with no luck. It was working fine with the old Pace box.

Can anyone throw any light on what the problem might be?

Re: Total Control AV sender

Some of the Pace STBs used a different (non standard) infra red system, to the standard system used on the Samsung. It may be that your old remote sender isn't compatible.

Re: Total Control AV sender

Total Control senders should be fine with Samsung boxes. See this thread for some more suggestions.

Re: Total Control AV sender

I think I have solved the problem. I have had to place the eye right in front of the receiver with sticky tape and it seems to be working alright now. They replaced the box because the picture kept freezing and breaking up and it is still doing this with the new box, so I phoned Virgin and they told me that there is a fault in the area, so, they replaced the box when there was no need to. I have had many, many problems with NTL and now Virgin with regard to the Television reception and the Virgin Engineers all have different ideas on what the problem is and none of them have ever solved it.
