vrecorded programmes auto rewinding

I have recorded a few different programmes and this happens on them all. After 22 minutes & 30 seconds the programme starts to rewind as if I have pressed the rewind button on the remote (obviously I haven't). It is as if there is a "memory" mark against all recordings. When I press stop and play the programme continues and shows the rest of the programme. So the record is certainly working. In addition a small line has appearred in front of the channel number showing on the front of the box. It is similar in size to one half of the number 1. In addition no buttons on the front of the box work although the remote works great. Silver box, black remote. Tried the usual reformatted the HD, reset etc.

Any ideas?
