Just reformatted my computer
Hey people i just did a fresh re install of Windows earlier, i have configured services according to black viper. But there are two things that bother me, and i cant for the life of me work them out.
1. I still have 40 running processes
2. Windows Time wont update, and ive had to do it manually.
So how can i resolve these two problems?

1. did a fresh install on mine a couple of weeks ago and have 43 processes so nothing wrong there
2. set mine manually as it kept coming up 5 mins fast anyway when it did it itself

Re: Just reformatted my computer
Time.windows.com isnt the most reliable of time servers. Try time-a.nist.gov, thats usually better at synching.

40 is minimal. You have to remember that the average OS runs a hell of a lot that the user never sees.
As some sort of security procedure, time.windows.com will refuse to update your clock if it's more than 5 minutes out. Try setting the clock manually once, then it should synchronise afer that.

Re: Just reformatted my computer
Which version of Windows? When I reinstall XP, I have around 20 processes. At the moment, I have 32. That includes FireFox, XFire, TeamSpeak, AVG and PunkBuster (and TaskManager itself) that I have running. Also, there's one service that I wrote, which is part of a system that I'm working on.
I never have any of the rubbish running that comes with software these days, if I want it, I'll run it.

Can't help with the first problem, if it is a problem. Try the link below for the second bit.
